Role Overview
CNC is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Accounting Director to lead the company’s financial operations and support its next phase of growth. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about building scalable accounting systems, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring financial compliance. The ideal candidate brings experience from high-growth companies, excels at managing the monthly close process, and has a hands-on approach to solving problems and driving improving operations across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Accounting
Own and manage the full monthly and year-end close process
Maintain and oversee the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Prepare monthly financial statements, dashboards, and variance analysis reports for leadership and key stakeholders
Monitor cashflow and act as the primary point of contact for treasury management
Process Improvement & Controls
Evaluate current financial processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency
Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and audit readiness standards
Compliance & Reporting
Act as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors
Coordinate preparation of annual tax filings, 1099s and other compliance requirements
Maintain proper records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with leadership, account teams, and production leads to support project financial needs
Support revenue recognition practices and ensure alignment between operational and financial reporting
Qualifications
7+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a manager or director-level role, ideally reporting directly to a controller
Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, preferably in tech or media
Proficient in modern accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct
Strong Excel skills; experience with financial reporting and reconciliation
Detail-oriented with excellent organization and time management skills
Able to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and communicate effectively across teams
